1st October 2018. Hibs reserves v Hearts reserves 0-2
Another journey out to Riccarton for a 1.30 kickoff. Caught a 34 bus at 12.30 and met Malcolm when he got on the bus at Longstone. Game was at indoor pitch at the Oriam and admission charge was a donation to the Hibs development fund, given it was a Hibs home game. I put a couple of pounds in the bucket and then paid 50p for a programme.
Hearts had a strong team out with all seven substitutes from Saturday starting while Hibs also fielded a number of regular substitutes in their line-up. It was not the best of games I have seen although Hearts always looked the better side. Hibs had a few chances in the first half with Jamie Gullan looking threatening. However Hearts looked good going forward and for the first time I thought Danny Amankwaa looked like a player as he drove at the Hibs defence. Clevid Dikamona at centre half for Hearts also looked good and he won a number of challenges to keep Hibs at bay. Hearts took the lead with two minutes of the half to go. Craig Wighton was tripped from behind as he raced into the box, and Olly Bozanic stepped up to curl a great effort around the wall and into the corner of the net from about twenty yards out.
After about five minutes into the second half Hearts scored again when Alex Petrov was tripped outside the box. Ben Garuccio ran up and swerved an good effort past Marciano to double Hearts’ lead. I thought the ball bounced in front of the keeper as he dived and that keeper should have saved the ball. Heart then seemed to dominate the game wirth substitute Dario Zanatta missing a good chance before Wighton had a shot cleared off the line. Hibs had a good chance when Gullan fired wide before Wighton was stopped by Marciano's legs from scoring a third. All in all a good game with both sides having a number of chances.
Caught a 35 bus home with Malcolm and settled down to watch evening tv.
