28th March 2018 Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale v Tweedmouth 5-0
A late decision to go to this match although it is not far from my house. Left home at 19.00 and got to Saughton Park at 19.15 in time for the 19.30 kickoff. £5 for entry but no programmes or team sheets issued.
The game looked like it would be a mismatch. LTHV have won all their league games, as have league leaders Kelty Hearts. LTHV and Kelty have yet to meet in the League, although LTHV have won both times the sides have met in cup competitions. The upcoming league matches between the pair will decide who wins the league. By contrast Tweedmouth are bottom of the table with no points and a goal difference in excess of -100. LTHV beat Burntisland 13-0 earlier this season and would be looking for another big score tonight.
The first half as really good from a Tweedmouth viewpoint. LHTV had al the pressure but Twedmouth defended well. Their keeper was having a great game and one save in particular was really good. The LHTV striker brought the ball down a turned well but his shot was tipped around the post by the goalie. Halftime arrived at 0-0 and I think the Tweedmouth side were as surprised as I was.
However with about five minutes gone in the second half LTHV went ahead with a goal from about twelve yards out. Without the benefit of a programme or team sheet I cannot describe the build up to the goals but have found from Twitter that the scorers were Liam O'Donnell, Louis Swanson, Keith Murray, Tony Muir, and substitute Sammy Nhamburo. None of the goals were spectacular in the build-up but the win keeps LTHV in line for promotion to the Lowland League depending on the results v Kelty Hearts.
Left the ground on final whistle and caught a 22 bus home.
