28th March 2018 Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale v Tweedmouth 5-0

A late decision to go to this match although it is not far from my house. Left home at 19.00 and got to Saughton Park at 19.15 in time for the 19.30 kickoff. £5 for entry but no programmes or team sheets issued. The game looked like it would be a mismatch. LTHV have won all their league games, as have league leaders Kelty Hearts. LTHV and Kelty have yet to meet in the League, although LTHV have won both times the sides have met in cup competitions. The upcoming league matches between the pair will decide who wins the league. By contrast Tweedmouth are bottom of the table with no points and a goal difference in excess of -100. LTHV beat Burntisland 13-0 earlier this season and would be looking for another big score tonight. The first half as really good from a Tweedmouth viewpoint. LHTV had al the pressure but Twedmouth defended well. Their keeper was having a great game and one save in particular was really good. The LHTV striker brought the ball down a turned well but his shot

This Under 20s derby was announced on Hearts website as being played at Riccarton.  Hearts have been playing U20s games at Stenhousemuir but following erection of stands at the Riccarton 3G pitch, which means the ground meets SFA requirements for U20 matches, they can now play there which is more convenient for fans. Phoned Malcolm and we agreed to meet at the ground for the 1.00pm kickoff. I caught a 34 bus at 12.15 and arrived at ground at 12.45.   Free admission although tickets were being issued as capacity at the ground is restricted. Once tickets are gone no further admissions although you can watch from up the hill behind the ground. I met my ex-neighbour Alan before the game. While he is a Hearts fan his son Jamie plays for Hibs and he was here to cheer him on. Malcolm arrived just before kickoff along with his partner's grandchild, four year old Rudi, who was attending his first football match. Hearts had a strong side out with first team squad members Hamilto

First Hearts game for some time but looking forward to it. Watched the Scotland rugby match v Italy before heading to Tynecastle and pleased to see Scotland scrape a victory. Walked to Tynecastle and arrived at about 14.40 ready for game. Hearts have made number of changes from last game but again Malauray Martin not in squad. I was surprised by Craig Levein's comments earlier this week that he was not his type of player. Craig was director of football who signed him and why would he get a three and a half year contract if there were doubts about his style. In his first spell Levein dumped Jean-Louis Valios after a season and I think the same is happening here to Martin. Too much skill for a Levein team? When I got to the ground an interesting side was announced, in probably a 3-5-2 formation. Not sure about Michael Smith in midfield but looking a not bad side. One small surprise was that young lads who had been thrown into the side this season were all on the bench. G

First game I have been to for some time as I tripped and fell in the street. I went to the hospital to find I had fractured both elbows. Thankfully they were green stick fractures and will heal naturally over 3-6 weeks. Been four weeks since it happened and have found some things very difficult, like opening bottles of wine. Last time I had a fracture as when I was at school and played in goals at football. A player shot from the edge of the six yard box and I dived up and backwards and tipped it over the bar. Unfortunately I tipped it over with wrist rather than hand and fractured my wrist. I ended up in hospital and wrist was put in plaster. It meant I missed Tommy Murray's debut for Hearts in a 4-1 win over Dunfermline at East End Park. It also meant I avoided being a goalie in the future ! Because of my injuries I got a bus to Ainslie Park and met Alex and Jim in the cafe/bar. There was a bigger crowd than usual for the game tonight. Firstly because it was on a Friday ni
