At last back to Tynecastle !With Hearts  having lost their last four games it was imperative that they won today to move them up from eighth in the SPL table, despite two of the defeats being in European matches. I left home around 14.05 to walk to Tynecastle and arrived around fifteen minutes later. Scanned my season ticket to enter the ground and headed up to my seat in Section R. Have a great view after moving my season ticket seat and looking forward to the match.  During the international break Hearts had made a change to the management structure. Steven Naismith, who does not hold a Pro Licence and therefore cannot manage the side in European games was  appointed first team coach and Frankie McAvoy moved to be assistant first team coach. The changes were purely cosmetic although Naismith will need a Pro Licence if(when) Hearts qualify for Europe next season. Naismith made one change to the side that faced Motherwell before the international break with Kenneth Vargas replacing A

With the international break this weekend there were no SPL games being played. I had various options for a match but decided to go and watch Musselburgh v Penicuik in the EoS Premier Division. I left home around 13.00 and walked down to Haymarket to catch a 26 bus to Musselburgh. The weather was very warm and I thought I was going to fall asleep on the one hour journey. I took the bus to the Brunton Theatre and walked back along the High Street to Olivebank to get some fresh air to wake me up. I got to the  ground around 14.10 in plenty time for the 14.30 kickoff. A £4 admission charge and £2 for a programme got me into the ground in plenty time for the kickoff. I had a wander round the ground and took up a position in the covered terracing area to hopefully provide some refuge from the heat. It looked like being an interesting match with Musselburgh fourth in the league and Oenicuik eighth.  Musselburgh have an excellent paitr of strikers despite all-time top scorer Mattie King hav

A chancre for a midweek match again today. With a full EoS and Lowland League programme I had a number of options. I finally decided to head out to Penicuik to watch their EoS match against Crossgates Primrose. The 47 bus to Penicuik was due at Lauriston around18.05 I left home around 17.45. I was glad I left early as I saw the bus stopped at the lights at Lothian Road as I was crossing the road around 18.00. I got across the road in time to catch the bus. With a 19.30 kickoff the bus arrived in Penicuik around 19.00 so I got off at Tesco and walked to Montgomery Park from there. I paid my £5 admission and bought a £2 programme. Got to congratulate Penicuik as the programme include some detail on their Scottish Cup tie against Rutherglain Glencairn on Saturday along with details on other Scottish Cup-ties played at the weekend. When a number of ‘senior’ clubs are discontinuing issuing programmes it is good to see clubs making an effort to prepare a programme under limited timescales.

After another European match on a Thursday I was going to yet another SPL match on a Sunday. I did not watch the midweek game on Viaplay as I refuse to oay for another sports channel with only limited coverage of games which interest me. I had been out at Kingsknowe watching Harper play for Eastside Rapids against Currie Star.  Rapids won 3-1 and I was hoping for a similar result for Hearts today. I left home just after 14.00 and walked down to Tynecastle.  I had my ticket scanned and was in my seat by around 14.20 as the teams warmed up. There was apparently a problems at the turnstiles after I got in and a number of people had problems scanning their tickets and were delayed in entering the ground.  Hearts made three changes to the starting lineup from the defeat in Greece against PAOK. Into the side came Peter Haring, Yutaro Oda and Alex Lowry. Kenneth Vargas and Toby Sibbick dropped to the bench while Stephen Kingsley was omitted from the squad. Motherwell under manager Steven Kett

With Hearts match being moved to Sunday to accommodate Thursdays 4-0 defeat in Greece I had a wide choice off matches to attend today. With the match kicking off at 15.00 I walked down tonHaymarket to catch the 13.45 bus to Bonnyrigg. The bus was was diverted due to roadworks for the new cycle way and thankfully it stopped at the lights at Lansdowne Crescent allowing me time to get across the road and catch it at the stop. The bus was heading to Poltonhall so I got off in Dobbie’s Road around 14.30 and walked back to thr ground. I paid my £9 admission and spent a further £2 on a programme. As the sun was shining I headed to the grassy uncovered side of the ground and took up a position against a crush barrier. There was a minutes silence before the kickoff in memory of Archie Young who played in Bonnyrigg team that won the Scottish Junior Cup in 1966. No-one has played more matches for Bonnyrigg and he died last week aged 90. Rose have started the season well and currently have eight p
