  # If ‘s Saturday but no Hearts game today. Hearts were scheduled to be playing Celtic at Parkhead but the game has been postponed due to Celtic meeting Rangers in the  Viaplay(League) Cup final tomorrow. The postponed game has been re-arranged for 8th March, three days before the two sides meet in the Scottish Cup at Tynecastle. I can see a few grudges being carried on from the league game into the cup-tie. I decided to head to Ainslie Park to watch Spartans against East Stirlingshire in the Lowland League. I walked down past Haymarket to Drumsheugh and caught a 19 bus to Crewe Toll. From there I walked along Ferry Road and down past Sainsbury’s to the ground arriving at 14.30. I grabbed a coffee and a pie in the cafe/bar before heading down to the pitch side about ten minutes before kickoff. I met Jim before the kickoff for the first time this year and we decided to watch the first half from the cafe end given Spartans were attacking the goal at that end.  Spartans are currently sec

Well it’s Saturday and having not been to a live match since 3rd January due to illness I decided it was time to get back to football. I was originally going to watch Bonnyrigg v Forfar but that was called off in mid morning due to a waterlogged pitch. The Hearts B match at Rosewell was  also called off for the same reason. I did not want to travel too far so decided to head out to the Oriam to watch Heriot Watt University v Craigroyston in the East of Scotland Second Division. I caught a 34 bus at 14.08 and arrived at the ground half a hour later. The game was being held on the outdoor John Brydon Arena and I paid my £3 entry fee on arrival. HWU used to issue programmes but have ceased production. I ask the gateman if any team sheets were available. There were none for spectators but the other guy on the gate nipped across to the dressing rooms and brought a copy of the HWU team-sheet for me to photograph. Unfortunately the Craigroyston bench was on the far side of the pitch and not

. Well the first game for 2023. Edinburgh Derby at Tynecastle. Craig, Claire, Harper and Jayden were also going so they arrived at our flat around 12.15. We watched the first half of the Glasgow derby before they headed off to the Shandon bar after a couple of drinks with us. I walked down to Tynecastle and was in my seat around 14.20 to watch the sides warming up. I have not been feeling that great recently so have copied some detail from the Hearts match report into this blog. Robbie Neilson made two changes to the side that defeated St Johnstone in Perth last time out. Barrie McKay and Michael Smith returned to the starting 11 in place of Jorge Grant and Alan Forrest. Hearts managed to get themselves in front after just eight minutes and it was all down to the tenacity of Cammy Devlin. The Aussie midfielder would not give up on a lost cause and after blocking a Hibs clearance, the ball fell to Josh Ginnelly, who cut inside and although his effort was saved by David Marshall, L
